OHDELA's First Audio Drama
by Ellen Wall, Student Reporter
Being an online school, we do not have many of the activities that in-person schools would have. So, we have been developing ways to make online schools just like regular schools but even better. This year OHDELA had its first audio drama. An audio drama is just like a play but it does not have actual people acting, just voice acting. However, the screen of the play had silhouettes of each character moving around to help explain the story. The play was titled “Murder Me, Murder Me Not”. Right from the beginning, the actors knew they would do something similar to the game Clue. They wanted to have someone in the audio drama club write a screenplay, but in the end, there were not enough people in the club to do that. So, Mrs. Kurz was looking at websites all over the internet for the perfect screenplay. After a long time of searching for one, it was finally found. Casting-wise, there were at least 15 people in the club at first. Gradually people were not attending but they found there were the same consistent people attending meetings so those were the people cast. However, “The only exception to that was Mira and Korben and that is because initially at the read-through, I was begging Mira to take the role of Geraldine.” Mrs. Kurz had said. Like any other production, they had their speed bumps along the way but were able to overcome them in time for the show. Bravo to the director, all the actors, and the audience who experienced the show.
