Ohdela's MS Esports Club opens first-ever season
by Ellen Wall, Student Reporter
OHDELA’s Middle school Esports team is gearing up for their first game in the spring season. Preparation is key to winning any competitive game. The members of the Esports club work diligently to be ready for the big event in the spring and they should, especially because talent scouts will be there. The first match-up is Tuesday, March 1st at 3:30 p.m. The team captain of the middle school league is Keira, a sixth-grader at OHDELA. Keira works very hard to keep her team motivated. She reminds her fellow team members to practice often and she even gives them all sorts of tips so that they can do their very best. Esports means electronic sports, Otherwise known as online gaming. Rocket League is the game the Middle School team is playing. It is a cross-platform game, meaning that it can be played on multiple platforms or gaming systems. While playing, teammates can talk over an app called Discord. You can join video conferences or just audio and talk to your friends while still playing your game. So, just like in remote learning, when you are far apart you can still connect. Esports are not easy, but because of all the hard work that our team does, I know that they can come out on top. Good luck to the OHDELA Esports team!
(The Games shall be streamed on twitch.) Look below for some other links on the subject.
